OPT-OUT REIMBURSEMENT UPDATE:
Direct deposits have been released to students who were successful in their opt-out attempt as of November 5, 2024. Please check all bank accounts in your name for your reimbursements. If you haven’t received it yet, this may mean your direct deposit was rejected (names didn’t match, transposed a number, etc) and a cheque will be issued and mailed to the address on your application. An email notification will be sent out early next week about rejected direct deposits.

If you chose the cheque option, cheques will be mailed out once the Postal Strike has concluded. If it looks as though the strike will take longer than expected, we will look into alternative methods for distribution.

Please make sure you’re checking your email and junk mail folders to make sure your opt-out application wasn’t rejected. If you were rejected, members have until November 15 to make any adjustments to their application, and then everything will be taken on a case by case application.

The MSU Health and Dental Insurance plans covers full-time undergraduate students at McMaster University enrolled in 18 units or more. Coverage runs from September 1st to August 31st.

Please note: There is blackout period every year from September 1 until mid-October while waiting for the opt-out to be completed, and for the list of names from the University. Please hold on to your receipts and then you may claim them once the blackout period has been lifted. This also means that you cannot sign up for a profile with ClaimSecure until the blackout period has been lifted.

Through contractual agreements, the following McMaster students are also covered:

  • Midwifery Students
  • Commerce Internship Students
  • Undergraduate Medical Students

Part-time Students may opt into the MSU plan, and add their dependents. Please visit the MAPS website or MUSC 201 for more information.

Varsity Athletes should refer to their copy of the Varsity Students Coverage Information booklet for their coverage terms. For specific details, Varsity Athletes should contact the Ath & Rec Finance Office at the David Braley Sport Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre.

Graduate Students are NOT covered by this plan. Please visit the GSA website for more information.
