Parking Instructions:
Lot E is directly across from the Hub and is the recommended parking location.
- Enter the University via Sterling St. and stay in the right lane to loop around Stearn Dr.
- Follow Stearn Dr., then turn left to stay on Stearn Dr.
- Take the next right onto Mitchell Crescent.
- From Mitchell Crescent, turn left into Lot E.
If Lot E is full, please proceed to Lot G or Stadium Underground for alternative parking.
The Hub provides a casual space for students to hang-out, relax, recharge, and engage in non-academic student activity. It boasts a variety of new amenities, some of which are being brought to campus for the first time. While the majority of the spaces in the Hub are currently open, we are still perfecting some key features of the facility. Stay tuned! Below is a complete list of the spaces that can be found in the Hub.

Acknowledging the facility’s purpose to enhance student life, priority will be given to student group programming that promotes student activity and is open to all MSU members.

If you would like to submit a request to reserve an event space in The Hub, please click HERE.
Important: Your reservation request must include time for your own setup and takedown. Be sure to factor in enough time before and after your event to arrange and clean up your space.
Eligibility & Policies
- Requests must be submitted at least ten (10) business days in advance of your event to be considered via our Hub booking engine. [Due to high request volumes, it may take up to five (5) business days to receive a response.]
- Requests sent by email will not be prioritized over bookings made through the Hub booking engine. Reservations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Reservation request times include The Client’s own personal set-up and takedown. The Client may access the space at the start time indicated and must vacate the space by the end-time indicated. Overtime will be charged accordingly.
- Catering must be provided by Hospitality Services or MSU TwelvEighty, unless written approval for a third-party vendor has been granted by Hospitality Services. Such approval must be received no later than two (2) business days prior to the event.
- MSU Clubs, Services, and Student Groups must provide a valid student event code to confirm their reservation. Failure to provide a valid code will leave the date open to others.
- For groups paying out of pocket, including student faculty associations and external organizations, a 10% non-refundable deposit is required to book any Hub space, except the Vendor Table, which carries a 50% non-refundable deposit.
- Planning for 300 or more guests? A custodial fee will automatically be added to help us keep the space clean and ready for everyone.
Pre Sale Table
Event Type: Pre Sale Table
The Presale Table, also referred to as the Bake Sale Table, may be rented during the Hub’s regular hours of operation. Unless otherwise specified, the following timeslots are available for booking:
- Two slots per day are available; Morning: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Pre-orders may only be accepted for Krispy Kreme donuts, MUSC Tim Horton’s donuts, or Craig’s Cookies.
- No food products may be physically present at the presale table during the assigned reservation period. The table is for presale purposes only.
- Each group may reserve a maximum of one timeslot per day.
Vendor Table
Event Type: Vendor Table
- Vendor Tables may be booked by MSU-recognized clubs, Faculty Societies, McMaster Departments, and MSU Departments for the purpose of selling items to the McMaster community.
- Available to external organizations to sell products or promote services.
- External organizations must provide a valid certificate of insurance.
- Rental includes use of the vendor space, up to two 6-foot folding tables, and two chairs. Linens are not included.
Promotion Table
Event Type: Promotion Table
- Promotion Tables may be booked by MSU-recognized clubs, Faculty Societies, McMaster Departments and MSU Departments for the purpose of promoting their activities to the McMaster community.
- Promotion Tables may be reserved during The Hub’s regular hours of operation, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, unless otherwise specified.
- Each booking includes two (2) 6-foot folding tables and two (2) chairs; linens are not provided.
Collaboration Suites
Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance via the MSUHUB booking portal: www.msuhubbookings.ca. Reservations are automatically approved if the space is available at the requested time.
- There are seven private Collaboration Suites available for McMaster students and student groups. They may also be used on a drop-in basis if available.
- Each suite has a unique design and accommodates different group sizes. These spaces can be used for a variety of purposes, including socializing, relaxing, or holding meetings.
- These suites are intended for collaboration and are not meant to be used as individual study spaces.
- Suites are available until 30 minutes before closing:
- Monday – Friday: closes at 8:45 PM
- Saturday – Sunday: closes at 7:45 PM
- Please ensure you review the Collaboration Suite policies on the reservation portal before booking.
Community Kitchen
Event Type: Community Kitchen Event
Booking Requirements:
At least one person must hold a valid Ontario Food Handler’s License for the duration of the booking.
- Maximum occupancy: 17 people.
- All participants must sign the MSU waiver.
- Kitchen access is by approved booking only.
- Kitchen may only be booked by MSU-recognized clubs, Faculty Societies, McMaster Departments and MSU Departments
Event Types Allowed:
- Workshops – small group cooking with a certified instructor.
- Demonstrations – cooking demonstrated by a certified teacher.
- Team/Community Building – private group cooking and eating.
Kitchen Guidelines:
- This is a nut-free kitchen, but the space is not guaranteed to be allergen-free; cross-contamination may occur.
- All food must be prepared, served, and consumed in the kitchen; nothing may leave the space.
- Designated meat cutting boards must be used; sanitize surfaces and wash all items in the dishwasher. Vegetarian meals are encouraged.
- The kitchen is maintained with high standards of cleanliness, including sanitization to reduce allergens and pathogens.
- Equipment use must follow the Hub’s policies; MSU is not liable for any failure, loss, or injury related to outside equipment brought in.
Deposits & Responsibility:
- A $50 deposit is required to secure the booking and may be forfeited for damage, excessive cleaning, or leftover food.
- Groups are responsible for cleaning, returning items, and disposing of waste properly. Grease must go in the disposal container, not the sink.
- Hub staff will inspect the kitchen after your booking. Repeated or serious violations may result in revoked booking privileges.
Office Space
Event Type: Office Usage/Meeting
Located on the 3rd floor of The Hub, this office space is available for internal MSU groups to book. The space features one desk, an office chair, and two chairs, making it ideal for small meetings or focused work. Maximum capacity is 1-3 people, and access is by approved booking only.
- This office is available to MSU-recognized clubs, Faculty Societies, McMaster departments, and MSU departments. MSU-recognized clubs, Faculty Societies, and MSU Services must provide a valid Student Event Code to confirm their booking. Reservations without a code will be considered unconfirmed.
- The office includes a TV with HDMI connectivity, compatible with Windows laptops, keyboards, mice, monitors, and docking stations. AV equipment is included in the rental fee.
- Due to the design of the space, the layout is fixed and cannot be changed. Chairs may be moved within the room, but no other adjustments are permitted.
Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms
The Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms, located on the 3rd floor of The Hub, are mixed-gender and mixed-faith spaces designed for prayer, contemplation, and meditation. These rooms provide a welcoming environment for all students, and users are asked to respect the space, maintain a quiet atmosphere, and follow the established guidelines to ensure it remains safe and accessible for everyone.
- The Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms are mixed-gender and mixed-faith spaces. Rooms are not designated by gender.
- Use this space for prayer, contemplation, and meditation only. Studying, lounging, sleeping, or meetings are not permitted.
- Respect all faiths that may use this space. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Shared-use items (e.g., prayer mats, sacred texts) should be returned to closet storage after use. Furniture layout must remain as provided; items cannot be added or removed.
- Any established spiritual symbols in this space have been approved by The MSU HUB and the Spiritual Care and Learning Centre
- A Mandir has been newly established in this space as a permanent spiritual symbol. This and all established items cannot be moved.
- Posters, leaflets, flyers, or similar materials are not permitted in this space.
- Cleanliness & safety:
- Eating and drinks (except water) are not permitted; spills must be cleaned.
- Street shoes are encouraged to be removed, but may remain on if desired.
- Open flames (candles, incense, etc.) are not permitted. Smudging is allowed with prior approval from the Student Life Director (studentlife@msu.mcmaster.ca).
- Noise & electronics:
- Keep noise to a minimum; general conversations are not permitted.
- Mobile phones must be on silent; audio may not be played aloud.
- Laptops and tablets are not permitted
- Safety & responsibility:
- Report any issues to the Hub’s Welcome Desk immediately.
- In emergencies or if your safety is threatened, contact McMaster Security Services at 905-522-4135.
- The MSU is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
- The MSU is committed to providing a welcoming and safe space for all students.
Poster Guidelines
- All posters, except those belonging to departments or offices of McMaster University (bearing the appropriate McMaster University department/office logo displayed on the poster), must first be submitted to and approved by MSU Underground Media + Design (MUSC B117). Posters not stamped by MSU Underground Media + Design will be removed.
- Posters may only be used to promote McMaster-based activities.
- Due to space constraints, the maximum size of posters permitted is 11” x 17”.
- Four (4) posters per event may be submitted to Hub Front Desk to be displayed in the locked bulletin boards throughout the facility.
- Posters are typically up for one (1) week but may be up for a maximum of one (1) month if availability permits.
- Any posters displayed past the event date advertised will be removed.
- Posters are put up every Monday.
- Posters are not allowed to be posted in the following places:

- Improperly adhered posters that cause damage to the facility or require extraordinary cleaning efforts will result in a charge to the group who posted them.
- The Hub reserves the right to remove all posters not abiding by this policy

Board Game Rental Guidelines:
- Board games must be returned the same day they were borrowed, prior to the Welcome Desk closing for that day.
- Board games are to be used within the Hub Building only and may not be taken for events elsewhere on campus.
- A valid McMaster student card must be presented at the time of the rental.
- If a board game is lost, pieces are missing, or it has been damaged, the Hub reserves the right to charge the individual who provided the student card for the purpose of replacing the game and/or the missing piece(s).
- Student Life Reps at the Welcome Desk will assess the condition of the board game upon return.
Charger Cable Rentals
Low battery? We’ve got you covered! Charger cables can be borrowed at no cost from the Information Desk on the first floor. The following cables are available, and come with a charging block:
- USB-C
- Lightning

- Cables must be returned the same day they are borrowed, before the Welcome Desk closes.
- Cables are to be used within The Hub only and may not be taken for use elsewhere on campus.
- A valid McMaster student card must be presented at the time of rental and will be returned once the charger and block have been returned to the Welcome Desk.
- If a cable is lost or damaged, the Hub reserves the right to charge the student card holder to replace the cable.
- Student Life Reps at the Welcome Desk will check the condition of the cable upon return.
Ping Pong Paddle Rentals
Game on! Ping pong paddles can be borrowed at no cost from the Welcome Desk on the first floor. Each student may borrow up to 2 paddles per student card.
Rental Guidelines:
- Paddles must be returned the same day they are borrowed, before the Welcome Desk closes.
- Paddles are to be used within The Hub only and may not be taken for use elsewhere on campus.
- A valid McMaster student card must be presented at the time of rental and will be returned once the paddles are returned.
- If a paddle is lost or damaged, the Hub reserves the right to charge the student card holder to replace it.
- Student Life Reps at the Welcome Desk will check the condition of the paddles upon return.
