MSU Operational Updates for Summer 2022

MSU Main Office
The MSU Main Office, located in MUSC 201 will operate both in-person and via remote assist throughout the summer months. Weekdays, from 10am-5pm assistance is available from oclerk@msu.mcmaster.ca or use the MSU chat box to connect with live help. Public access to MUSC 201 is available Monday through Friday from 10am-2pm, with virtual support continuing in the afternoons from 2-5pm. Accounting and administrative support staff remain available to students. The Board of Directors and all staff members can be contacted directly via email at any time.
MSU Service and Business Operations
All MSU student life and peer support services are available via email during the summer months, though most services will not offer in-person operations until September 2022. Follow a service’s respective social media account(s) for ongoing programming and peer support information, as well as future updates regarding in-person programming. Clients using the Locker of Love service provided by the MSU Food Collective Centre (FCC) will be supported over the summer months, beginning in June. In addition, the MSU Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) will be active on campus weekday 9am-5pm from June through August.
TwelvEighty, The Grind, and Union Market will be closed until the return of students to campus in the fall. Currently undergoing renovations, students can expect major upgrades to these physical spaces come first semester of the 2022-2023 school year. When relaunched in fall, the student-led, professionally managed food and beverage operations of the MSU will be completely revitalized.
Underground Media + Design is available for print, design, binding, and cutting services via remote support and store-front pick-up throughout the summer. The self-serve copy space will re-open to the public in September. Please email underground@msu.mcmaster.ca to request any of Underground’s available services, which will be facilitated though virtual appointments and scheduled pick-up times.
HSR Bus Pass
The student bus pass remains in effect through the end of August. All full-time undergraduate students have a bus pass with the HSR, that functions from September 1 until August 30, each academic year. Health and Dental Insurance, and Wellness support
The health and dental insurance plans remain active for all students enrolled in the plan(s). Coverage enjoyed by students through the 2021-2022 school year remain in effect until the end of August 2022. Students may use their health and dental coverage anywhere in Canada. In addition, at no cost, McMaster students, along with their family and housemates, can access the MSU’s Student Assistance Plan (SAP). The SAP, available 24/7 through multi-lingual calls, chats, or texts, provides on-demand counselling with mental health experts, as well as professional consultation in the areas of nutrition, academic success, life skills, legal affairs, and more.
