MSU operational updates for the winter semester
McMaster University has modified it’s January re-opening plan. As it stands, there will be a staggered return to full, in-person class. Read more about the timeline and be aware of the policies and procedures of accessing the physical campus, including mandatory vaccination and daily screening. MSU Operational Updates:
MSU Main Office
The MSU Main Office, located in MUSC 201 will operate virtually through January 28, weekdays from 10am-5pm. Email oclerk@msu.mcmaster.ca or use the MSU chat box to connect with live help. Beginning January 31, the Main Office will open to public access using hybrid in-person and virtual availability. On Mondays and Fridays, MUSC 201 will be open to the public from 10am-1pm, then offer virtual support in the afternoons from 1-5pm. However, Tuesdays through Thursdays, the office will be open in-person from 10am-5pm each day. Accounting and administrative support staff remain available to students. The Board of Directors and/or staff members can be contacted directly via email at any time.
MSU service and business operations
The MSU continues to plan for a combination of online and in-person service delivery for the winter term. MSU related businesses will open for in-person service operations beginning January 24. Specifically, on weekdays, TwelvEighty 2GO will be available from 11am – 7pm, The Grind will open from 8am – 4pm, and Union Market will operate from 9am – 7pm. The Grind will offer in-person seating beginning January 31, conforming to Ontario’s guidelines for indoor dining. TwelvEighty will be limited to take-out / grab-and-go until Reading Week.
Underground Media + Design will resume in-person, self-serve copying and printing on February 7, with weekday hours of 10am-5pm. In the meantime, Underground continues to offer all available services though virtual appointments and scheduled pick-up times.
All MSU student and peer support services will begin to offer in-person availability, either via appointment or through limited office hours, beginning February 1. Services will continue to operate online as well. Follow a service’s respective social media account(s) for ongoing programming and peer support information, as well as future updates regarding in-person programming.
Health and wellness support
The health and dental insurance plans remain fully operational. Students may use their health and dental coverage anywhere in Canada. In addition, at no cost, McMaster students, along with their family and housemates, can access the MSU’s Student Assistance Plan (SAP). The SAP, available 24/7 through multi-lingual calls, chats, or texts, provides on-demand counselling with mental health experts, as well as professional consultation in the areas of nutrition, academic success, life skills, legal affairs, and more.
