A walk home with SWHAT includes a team of two walkers. They will not have obvious uniforms, but they will identify themselves to you. As well, all walkers are equipped with a flashlight and a radio to allow communication with the SWHAT office and McMaster Security as required. No matter the weather, our walkers can walk with you to your destination while providing safety and company – we also have umbrellas to help keep you dry!

*When requesting a walk, please keep in mind that our volunteers need to be back in our office by 1AM.

SWHAT will walk any McMaster student anywhere on campus or off-campus from University Plaza to the 403, to the edge of the escarpment. We will even take the bus with you if requested.

Become involved with SWHAT today. Meet great people, get a little exercise and have lots of fun!

For more information on volunteering with SWHAT, send us an email at: swhat@msu.mcmaster.ca or visit us on social media.

A walk from SWHAT includes two volunteer walkers escorting you to your destination. You may request a gender preference of the walkers, and SWHAT will do its best to accommodate your request. Walkers will introduce themselves to you when they arrive at the location agreed upon when you book a walk. SWHAT walkers will be equipped with a flashlight and a radio. If it is raining, the walkers will also carry umbrellas. If you ask SWHAT to join you on a bus ride, you must provide your own HSR bus pass via PRESTO (all full-time undergraduate students have an HSR bus pass). SWHAT promotes a safe(r) space for students and will ensure that its service use is confidential.
