Bridges Event Space

**Effective January 1st, 2025, Bridges Event Space will be charging clients for use of the space. Pricing will be based on individual needs and discounts are available for ratified MSU Clubs, MSU Services, and Non-MSU Student Groups. Clients will receive a formal estimate after completing the Booking Request Form found below.

Bridges Event Space, managed by the MSU Clubs Department, stands as a beacon of inclusivity and community on campus. Established in 2005, originally as Bridges Cafe, it has transformed from a cafe into a dynamic social and event hub. Located on the west side of McMaster University’s campus, just a few steps away from the GO Bus station, adjacent to Wallingford Hall, and beneath the Phoenix Restaurant, it is in the perfect location for your event! Bridges Event Space is a prime spot for promoting your MSU Club, Service, or faculty society.

This venue is ideal for hosting movie nights, poetry readings, club socials, and more! Its open concept, modular seating, and built-in AV equipment make it adaptable to different types of events.

  • Bridges Event Space is a designated safe space. Disrespectful behaviour, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Booking requests must be made at least ten (10) business days in advance.
  • MSU Clubs, MSU Services, and Student Groups must provide a valid EOHSS code before a booking will be confirmed.
  • Bridges Event Space is available to be rented out from 3:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, unless otherwise specified. This is tentative based on staff availability.
  • The maximum capacity for events is 150 attendees. Events exceeding this capacity will not be permitted. Events with over 100 attendees require 1 security guard.
  • Bookings must include set-up and take-down time; overages will be charged accordingly.
  • Tables and chairs within Bridges Event Space are available for The Client to use at no additional cost.
  • Bridges Event Space has two wireless microphones, microphone stands, one aux cable, one projector screen, and one projector available for use at an additional cost to The Client. This equipment is only available for events if confirmed during the booking process.
  • The Client is responsible for care and safe handling of all MSU and McMaster University property, including A/V equipment and furniture.
  • The Client is responsible for cleaning and rearranging furniture to its original state and all garbage must be placed in waste receptacles at the end of the booking.
  • The Client is responsible for acquiring approval from McMaster Catering Services for all food and beverages being brought to Bridges Event Space, in accordance with the McMaster University Food & Beverage Policy. Approval from McMaster Catering Services must be provided, in writing, and shared with the MSU prior to event confirmation.
  • Alcohol is not permitted in Bridges Event Space.
  • The Client is responsible for following all MSU policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with risk management and health and safety practices.
  • If an event does not comply with MSU or McMaster University policies, or violates the terms of the rental contract, it may be cancelled without notice.
  • If The Client does not follow all policies & procedures related to Bridges Event Space, future bookings may not be approved.
