COPE is a mental health awareness initiative which was founded in 2008 by a group of McMaster students looking to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illnesses, and raise awareness about mental health within the McMaster and surrounding communities. We do this in three main ways 1) Our events team organizes events, campaigns and fundraisers to increase mental health awareness. 2) Our Indwell team gives community volunteering opportunities to McMaster students related to mental health/mental illness, such as at the Indwell affordable housing programs in Hamilton. 3) Our Knowledge Translation Committee (KTC) aims to improve the accessibility of scientific information and to enrich students’ understanding of topics in mental health, through our blog (https://www.copemcmaster.com/blog) and social media. Please join the conversation, and consider getting involved with our club.
