MSU Macademics volunteers will work with their committee and the MSU Macademics team to run campaigns related to educational resources and teaching excellence. The four committees are: Course Wiki, Teaching Awards, Research & Resources, and Promotions. Volunteers will assist in raising the profile of educational advocacy initiatives within the MSU and the surrounding community.

We are run by students, for students, and we are currently seeking subcommittee volunteers for the 2021/2022 team!

You must be a full-time undergraduate student at McMaster University to apply.

Successful candidates will be contacted via email. Applications close on September 24th, 2021 at 11:59pm.

Community Support

  • Attend committee meeting
  • Create and support committee tasks
  • The 4 committees are:
    • Course Wiki Committee
      • Promote and moderate Course Wiki
      • Plan Wikithon events to fill out course descriptions
    • Promotions Committee
      • Promote Macademics through campaigns, social media, in-person booths, class talks, and promotional videos
    • Research and Resources Committee
      • Assisting in the compilation of academic resources
      • Researching and writing blogs on pedagogy (the science of teaching and learning)
    • Teaching Awards Committee
      • Event planning, promotions, assisting/speaking at the annual Teaching Awards Ceremony

General responsibilities

  • Promote Macademics campaigns and events on social media channels
  • Participate in campaigns and events organized by the MSU Education Department occurring on campus
  • Participate in all training sessions as preparation for the various campaigns and initiatives that MSU Macademics organizes
  • Other duties as assigned by the Macademics Coordinator

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Interpersonal skills required to interact with students
  • Ability to work in groups and individually
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education and pedagogy is an asset


  • Responsible for staying informed about events and campaigns related to post-secondary education.
  • Responsible for participating in campaigns and attending shifts scheduled by the Volunteer and Logistics Executive.

Working Conditions

  • Time demands may exceeds stated hours of work, particularly on the weeks leading up the the ceremony.


  • Personal computer.
