CFMU is your campus radio station, sending broadcasting signals from the basement of the Student Centre, to you! Bringing together the voice of McMaster students and members of the Hamilton Community, 93.3 CFMU is the station for the everyday listener. As a community radio station, content is developed with the local audience in mind.

The station can be heard on a regular FM radio, Spotify or on the CFMU website. Programming is created by station volunteers consisting of McMaster students and members of the Hamilton Community. CFMU broadcasts a variety of music, hosts an assortment of characters, and discusses a range of important topics.


General Scope of Duties 

The Promotions Coordinator is responsible, in conjunction with the Administrative Director, for the development, coordination, and supervision of all on-campus promotional activities. 

 Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Function                                          10% 
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of no less than 6 promotions volunteers.
Social Media Management Function                           50% 
  • Maintain and regularly engage with readers on social media platforms 
  • Pitch, research and write 1 blog article every 2 weeks on a student related topical issue, to be published on our website and Social Media platforms. 
  • Collaborate with CFMU Outreach Coordinator and Digital Media Specialist to create and post online content (videos, podcasts, infographics) for the station’s Social Media. 
  • Maintain the CFMU social media accounts in terms of posting and content and responding to online feedback 
Advertising & Promotions Function                     10% 
  • Increase profile for CFMU through contact with campus media  
  • Oversee all online giveaways
  • Assist with off-campus promotions where needed 
Communications Function             20% 
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Administrative Director to track progress and develop promotional plans 
  • Attend weekly staff meetings 
  • Maintain regular office hours and posts those hours in a visible place at the station  



  • Assist with the annual fundraising campaign and station special events where needed 
  • Provide transition for incoming Promotions Coordinator

Effort & Responsibility 
  • To produce and post content (produced by others) in the form of blogs and videos that inform, educate and inspire McMaster students as well as Hamilton area residents
  • The content creator’s various tasks include writing article for our webpage and developing video ideas for our social medial platforms
  • They should also be adept at promoting content on social media and working well with volunteers to promote the station
Working Conditions 
  • Flexibility in terms of hours is required, in consultation with the Administrative Director 
  • Most of the work will take place within the station, with some “on location” event supervision required 
  • Time demands may exceed stated hours of work 
Training and Experience 
  • Familiar with the programming, philosophy, and mandate of CFMU 
  • Will be trained in CFMU’s basic branding and social media presence 
  • Will be trained in basic photo editing software 
  • Computer equipment for online posting and word processing
